On the Loss of Lowell Strickland

by the South Boston Halifax County Museum of Fine Arts and History

at the Board of Directors Meeting

Held December 18, 2003  

	WHEREAS, the South Boston-Halifax County Museum of Fine Arts and History is the product of the 1981 challenge from a local businessman, Lowell Strickland, to the South Boston Tuesday Woman’s Club; and 
	WHEREAS, his letter to the South Boston Tuesday Woman’s Club inspired them to found a local history museum, and
	WHEREAS, Lowell Strickland served as the first president of the South Boston Historical Museum and continued as a benefactor throughout his life, and
	WHEREAS, his support has benefited the South Boston-Halifax County Museum of Fine Arts and History in many ways,
	THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,  that our appreciation and affection for this departed founder be made known by this tribute, and
	BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of these resolutions be incorporated in the minutes of the next Board of Directors meeting, printed in the local newspapers and presented to the family of Lowell Strickland.
